As many economists warned, by substituting government for competition the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) has rapidly caused healthcare to become unaffordable.
Close to home, Governor Edwards’ unilateral adoption of Obamacare in Louisiana is a main factor in why our budget has doubled over a decade, with very little positive outcomes to demonstrate from all that growth. In Louisiana and the nation the beneficiaries of all this spending is not the public who are now facing increased costs and reduced benefits, instead it is hospitals, medical holding companies, and insurance companies. Worse, because Obamacare closed off the free market and because government has never been fiscally responsible, the exponential growth of medical costs rage on unabated for as far as we can see.
So now the Democrats in Washington are forcing a shutdown of our government to, wait for it, shift massive amounts of taxpayer money to prop up Obamacare. Long gone are are the assurances that Obamacare will keep healthcare affordable, that citizens can control their own medical decisions, that health outcomes will improve. All replaced by the harsh reality that Democrats in Washington and Baton Rouge forced upon us an unaffordable system of an ever encroaching government takeover of our freedoms. A system based upon the well known adage that once something has been given by government, it cannot be controlled.
So, when their media allies gaslight us about how Democrats are closing our government to protect healthcare, remember that they broke it in the first place.
