VOGIN: Who Disrupted LSU’s Presidential Search Committee Meeting This Week?

Editor’s Note: a guest post from Ethan Vogin, an LSU law student and former president of the Turning Point USA chapter on campus.

Gabriel Benjamin Juarez is LSU’s resident mental patient. In his own words, he is a “transexual communist.” Mr. Juarez claims to be a woman. The EBRSO Booking Information which followed his arrest for causing a disturbance at a meeting of LSU’s presidential search committee this week describes his gender as male. The author will be using the information provided by the Sheriff’s Office.

That stunt certainly yielded some memorable video…

Here’s Mr. Juarez’ social media profile…

Mr. Juarez was arrested after disrupting the Search Committee’s meeting at the LSU Foundation Building. Mr. Juarez utilized the public comment portion of the meeting to express his distrust of the committee. He fervently told the committee that there will be “No MAGA President.” This is in reference to his notion that Governor Jeff Landry is behind the scenes, rigging the results. This accusation doesn’t carry any particular evidence to it – though it’s common for Louisiana governors to have a hand in picking LSU presidents; Bill Tate wasn’t even on the list of finalists in front of the LSU Board of Supervisors and nonetheless landed the job thanks to the direct and indirect influence of then-governor John Bel Edwards – and a popular grievance amongst Louisiana’s Left-Wing Loons. Mr. Juarez is accused of resisting an officer and prohibition of interference with educational process.

Six other members of the LSU chapter of Students for a Democratic Society, a reconstructed 1960’s-era communist front group, were also arrested after attempting to interfere with Juarez’ arrest. They were released.

This incident is not Mr. Juarez’s first run-in with being removed from an LSU meeting. In September 2024, he was escorted out of a faculty senate meeting after shouting over the proceedings to demand LSU divest from its investments and strategic partnerships with the State of Israel. The previous spring semester, Mr. Juarez participated in LSU’s infamous “Free Palestine” protest. Much to the chagrin of Mr. Juarez and his fellow strange, probably paid, protesters, they were shouted down by hundreds of freedom-loving American patriots who attend LSU.

Including with a very true accusation that the Palestinians can boast no SEC or national championships.

Mr. Juarez is a Senator-Emeritus from the LSU Student Senate. I’m not sure one should take pride in that title, but it’s a title, nonetheless. In his time there, he passed a resolution urging LSU to create a system where transgender students can put themselves on a list to live with female students. Only a sick person would propose such a thing. Also, in his time in the Senate, Mr. Juarez did an interview on campus where he said he would “nuke frat row.”

We’re not big believers in the concept of “hate speech” here at The Hayride, but if ever it was going to be applied to a real-life situation one would expect advocacy of the use of atomic bombs on fellow students to qualify.

This person has demonstrated over the last two and a half years that he is utterly insane, perhaps a danger to himself and others, and a good candidate for institutionalization of a kind different than can be found at a flagship university. The question now is, when will LSU act to protect its students and campus integrity from this obviously deranged individual?
