YOUNG: Happy Birthday To President Trump!

It’s President Trump’s birthday weekend. Like many of you, I’ve voted for him several times in the last decade. I’ve never met the man, but I’m thankful he’s the President.

I’ve seen him on tv, social media, I’ve even been to a rally of his in 2019 in Monroe. I was thinking about what we can do this weekend to help him and in the future.

On Friday, June 12th I’ll head back to the Concordia Parish courthouse and early vote for his endorsed candidate for US Senate, Julia Letlow again.  In case you don’t make it Friday, you can go do this any day between June 12th and June 20th for the June 27th run-off election. Other than on President Trump’s birthday (Sunday, June 14th) where you should probably head to church to pray for him and our country and Friday, June 19th which is a federal holiday.

Over the last several months I’ve seen the millions of dollars’ worth of negative ads against her since I initially endorsed her.

YOUNG: Count Me In For Julia Letlow

I’ve seen the argument that some apparently believe one elected official in Baton Rouge somehow blocked President Trump from considering other candidates. I remained convinced that no one person convinced President Trump to pre-endorse her for US Senate (he has lots of friends from Louisiana who he probably called himself before doing this including US House Majority Leader Steve Scalise

who is amongst the many that have endorsed her) and that she was the best person to be US Senator and represent us for years to come.

When I read the results from the May 16th primary election night including the 2 touchdown and a field goal lead,

Letlow and Fleming headed for runoff in Louisiana U.S. Senate race

she built it has propelled this run-off race to be boring and uneventful. In Concordia Parish where I’ll vote again it was a blow out. She got 70% of the vote despite one of her opponents paying for ads in the local weekly newspaper.

I’ve heard her say often in this campaign it’s the “people’s seat.”  Having known her for years, the thing she most covets is your vote and your prayers for her continued work in Congress on the US House Appropriations committee now and for her future work in the US Senate.

In the future, we need to help President Trump, US House Speaker Johnson and US House Majority Leader Steve Scalise build a larger majority in the US House. Thankfully even though it will take us in Louisiana probably until December to do it we should be able to increase our US House majority by at least one from here. Somebody needs to thank the Republican majority in the Louisiana legislature and the wisdom they had for delaying the US House election a month because it doesn’t look like any states that had already voted before the Supreme court decision are going to get to re-do state primaries. You can go ahead and put geaux vote on your calendars for November 3rd and December 12th.

Before I forget, Mr. President, Happy Birthday and Geaux vote!
