It’s Completely Irresponsible For The NFL To Send The Saints And Steelers To Paris Right Now

On Sunday, assuming the schedule holds, the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play a game at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, just north of central Paris.

This was Saint-Denis 11 days ago…

Yes, that’s the mayor of the place, shielding rioters from the police.

And more…

That was nearly two weeks ago. Perhaps things are better now?

Well…

So you’ll understand, what’s actually going on is that the mayor of the Paris suburb where the Saints and Steelers are scheduled to play on Sunday is threatening a “catastrophe” unless the demands of the rioters he’s been defending are met.

And those rioters are not students who want more school funding. French schools are funded better than anybody else in Europe funds their schools. No, the rioters are unassimilated foreigners, mostly Muslim, allied with communist revolutionaries.

To put two NFL teams, which are about as pristine a couple of examples of American capitalism, into that cauldron would, in other circumstances, be an act of bravado we would applaud. There was a time that it would have been a major triumph, for example, for the NFL to stage a game in Moscow during the Cold War.

But this isn’t that.

Playing a game in Moscow during the Cold War would have been safe. Assuming you could work it out with the Soviets, they would have made sure the players, staff and attendees would make it in and out of the stadium without incident.

France isn’t safe. France is utterly torn apart by riots at present. A more honest appraisal is that France is undergoing a revolution put on by communists and Islamists, aimed at taking down the French Republic and replacing it with a socialist dictatorship that will look something like Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.

You’ve almost certainly seen this video…

The look on that poor woman’s face – it’s fairly clear when she tells the looters “this is not the cause!” – is one of a dumb leftist forced to confront what she supports.

And that is France at present. The current government is in power because it brought the communists into its governing coalition, and now the communists are tearing the country apart because they can. That’s why Emmanuel Macron, the useless leader of that country who lacks any electoral legitimacy whatsoever, won’t send in the troops and impose martial law.

And martial law is unquestionably what France should have at present. After all…

That’s the town hall in Limoges, burning to the ground after 143 years. A brilliant piece of 19th century architecture vandalized and destroyed by barbarians.

If they can’t keep the government buildings from being razed by rioters, what are the chances an NFL game goes on unmolested?

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is insistent on spreading the game to the four corners of the world. That’s nice and all, but the four corners of the world aren’t ready for NFL football. In reality, the NFL has gone about spreading American football abroad in entirely the wrong way. It should have focused on getting kids, and particularly rich and talented kids, in Latin America to play football. Instead the NFL is putting on shows in declining European countries where America and American culture is more and more despised.

And now the league is putting two of its teams in mortal danger sending them to Saint-Denis.

It’s utterly insane.

We’ve got to believe they’re going to move the game back to the U.S. But so far, Goodell and both teams are saying it’s going to be fine.

If they’re wrong, and something terrible happens, nobody can say it was unforeseeable.

That game will be a prime target for the revolutionaries. And the security situation in France is highly compromised. If this does go on, it’s the most irresponsible thing we can recall the NFL doing.
