The Media Idiocy Around Operation Swamp Sweep Is Ramping Up Faster Than ICE Is Staging

Last week we had a post here at The Hayride about Operation Swamp Sweep, which is a surge by ICE into southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi targeting illegal aliens for deportation, and specifically the reaction by local media to the entirely predictable and not especially remarkable eventuality that the federal agency tasked with deporting illegal aliens would be…

…tasked with deporting illegal aliens.

Dec. 1 is the day that Swamp Sweep is supposed to begin, but on Friday the first elements of what is supposedly a contingent of 250 ICE officers were supposed to begin staging. And we got this from WWL-TV…

Wow, they called around to the local police departments and found out that ICE isn’t sharing operational details with the locals.

Well, no kidding.

That’s what’s known as operational security. What ICE is going to do or not do, where they’re going to go and who they’re going to target – these items of information are “need to know” things, and a week before the operation begins, the locals don’t actually need to know.

They might not even need to know after the operation begins.

Kenner’s police chief, Keith Conley, had a pretty good quote about Swamp Sweep. He said it was a “godsend” for his community and others around the state, and then he said this…

“I was screaming from the highest mountain top to get the help and the assistance we need because we can’t identify illegal aliens. We don’t have the resources to do it.”

Conley also said nobody should be worried about Swamp Sweep unless they have something to worry about. In other words, yeah – this is a problem for you if you’re an illegal alien. But everything should be a problem for you if you’re an illegal alien and you should go home and save ICE the trouble of having to come and deport you.

It’s amazing that the local media in New Orleans doesn’t get it.

I’m mentioning Conley, because Kenner is probably the most Hispanic place in all of Louisiana. It happens to be where the Hispanic community settled in the New Orleans metro. And you might be tempted to think Conley is race-baiting the Mexicans, or whatever, by taking a hard pro-ICE stand.

Nope. It turns out that the Mexicans – the Latin community in Kenner generally – are pretty happy about Swamp Sweep.

All of this media-driven hysteria about ICE coming to do their job, especially given that their focus is and has been since the beginning of the current effort to mass-deport the Biden surge of illegals into this country on criminals and those with judicial deportation orders, intentionally misses the fact that better than two in three of the people who are going to get snapped up in this operation are real villains.

Cartel thugs. Hardened criminals. With records, both where they came from and in America, since they came here.

We’re not just talking about the fact that they’ve broken the law by coming here. We mean they’ve committed other crimes.

And somehow a federal government operation which directly goes after the criminal illegal aliens polluting the streets of the New Orleans area and elsewhere in Louisiana and Mississippi is a “threat?”

This is pure propaganda. The fact that all of the TV stations in the local markets here keep pushing it tells you all you need to know about them. They’re every bit as terrible as the national legacy corporate media is.

Here’s hoping that Swamp Sweep hits its target of 5,000 deportations of high-priority illegal aliens, and here’s hoping that its activities dislodge thousands of other illegals and encourages them to go home on their own so taxpayer dollars aren’t spend to get rid of them.

Those deportations will have a very positive effect on the quality of life here and elsewhere they take place. In what ways? Well…

  • Deport thousands of illegals and the places they live go vacant. That means housing costs canĀ  level off or come down, particularly with respect to low-income housing (which is where the crisis is).
  • You won’t wait as long in the emergency room.
  • The local public school will be less full of illegal migrant kids who can’t speak English well and therefore slow down the progress of the classes.
  • Fewer illegals in town means fewer illegals on the roads.
  • Fewer illegals on the roads means fewer uninsured motorists, which means less car wrecks involving uninsured motorists, which means auto insurance rates might come down.
  • Fewer criminal illegals means fewer criminals, which means less crime.
  • The local grocery store will have fewer people with EBT cards – the Biden administration put as many of these people on SNAP as they could – in line. And they don’t just stop in for a few things. Those carts are piled a mile high and the line behind them gets to be a mile long in no time flat. If you’ve been to Walmart lately you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Less crime, less traffic, less competition for housing and health care and lots of other things, lower insurance and other costs.

Who’s going to complain about this?

Rich people who can’t get cheap domestic help as easily, that’s who. Pay extra for an American maid, you cheap bastards.

And even the rich leftists aren’t really going to complain about the cartel thugs and sex predators ICE is going to mostly snap up in these raids. They’ll scream about the odd case of a seemingly-innocent illegal who’ll be forced to go home, without acknowledging that the poor unfortunate in question will have been caught in a raid on a cartel thug’s crib, or that he or she tried to get in the way of ICE nabbing a known criminal alien. None of that will get reported with the initial clickbait article online, and it’ll send a bunch of Trader Joe’s Karens out into the wild to save the poor illegals, making bad optics for the feds who are simply doing their jobs after years of stupid politicians preventing them from doing so.

Oh, we’ll have quite the spectacle.

They’re telling you that as clearly as they can.

Hopefully the spectacle doesn’t end in any ICE officers getting hurt. That would be a real black eye on our community, and if it happens it’ll be at least partially the fault of these irresponsible hacks in the local media.
