“I like PBS. I’d like my grandkids to be able to watch PBS. But I’m not willing to borrow money from China and make my kids have to pay the interest on that, and my grandkids, over generations, as opposed to saying to PBS, look, you’re going to have to raise more money from charitable contributions or from advertising.”
- Mitt Romney

Please, Mr. Holden – Be honest about things for once! The “Alive” river-front theme park was only one of the reasons, albeit a main reason, that the previous issue was soundly defeated. So, what did our “honest” mayor do? Well, he simply avoided the voters of the parish and had some of his cronies in the legislature pass a TIF bill to fund the “Alive” project. From what tax base is the money for his deceptive “Alive” project being taken? I’ve yet to see that answer. As for being worried about the infrastructure of our fair city, while we are already burdened by extreme traffic, sewage and drainage problems, Mr. Holden, his appointed Planning and Zoning Commission and our (single member district) Council allowed Rouzan to proceed thus inflincting more problems on an already plagued infrastructure. No, Mr. Holden, you’ll not be allowed to deceive us again. This is shaping up to be anouth resounding NO vote. Until our Mayor, Council and Legialature get the message, I can’t view sending them more funds as a sane reaction to their vaulted ideas of what they think we need as opposed to what we think we need. Of course, the down town library debacle is yet another example of the dictatorial philosophy we have in our governement . . .
