@chad:disqus: No one should ever think Mary ain’t smart when it comes to politics. She got to where she is today by all her political lying and posturing. As for ‘Big Oil’, they have plenty of pols in their vest pockets and this story is proof in the puddin’.
Proof: As you said, ‘big oil’ pays 40% in taxes while businesses like computer companies pay 20%. She knows that by pushing to raise the taxes on the ‘other’ companies to match what ‘big oil’ pays ain’t what ‘big oil’ wants. Big Oil wants to lower the tax burden so they can put more in their pockets. So they call up Ms Mary and tell her they need a break on the taxes and ‘suggest’ how it should be done. Not only does the tax break sound good to the Big Oilers but the citizen population thinks it’s great also, cause that will lower the price of gas at the pump. So Ms Mary sees the positive in this deal…. lower the tax for Big Oil– makes them happy…. makes the voters happy cause they get a couple of cents off a gallon of gas… makes the ‘other’ companies happy cause they don’t have to pay higher taxes…. WOW win/win/win!!!!!
But we all know that in her liberal heart she wants to raise the tax for the ‘other’ companies, that’s the liberal way. It’s about making money not about saving the tax payer’s money. But then she is up for reelection and needs to start campaigning and what a way to start.
Wave the green in her face and she’ll assume the position you want.
