Can’t you just hear the howls of protests if George W Bush had abused the “recess appointment” rule as much as the current occupant has done? There would be nonstop 24/7 coverage all leading with the splash screen that has the word “WHY?”, edge to edge– and Cindy Sheehan would be sitting in a pup tent on Lafayette Circle…..just wait for the screwy (majority?) media groups to do the same now, except intead, they’ll be probing why the House majority is holding pro forma instead of recessing, blocking “their Messiah” from doing the very thing they would be howling in protest about, otherwise.
Landry and other freshmen are willing to do the heavy lifting. Let’s hope the House leadership and the more establishment House types will have the courage to sustain the effort.
Exit question: Is it possible for the House to defund the new bureaucracy? Repeal of the Dodd-Frank legislation that spawned it will have to wait for a less hostile Senate and White House.
