THURSDAY: DOJ Suit Topic Of Discussion At Ascension GOP Roundtable

An event this week centered around a subject our readers should be well aware of – if you’re not familiar with the case, you can read about it here, here and here.

Lionel Rainey III, founder of LR3 Consulting, will be the featured speaker at the Ascension GOP Roundtable, sponsored by Ascension Republican Women. The Roundtable is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th at 11:30 at Brew-Bachers’s Grill, 909 E. Ascension St., Gonzales, LA 70737 (Behind the Gonzales Piccadilly). The meeting will begin at noon, with a half-four of social time in advance.

Rainey will address the group on the Department of Justice’s suit against the State of Louisiana and a number of Louisiana state agencies and officials alleging that Louisiana’s governmental agencies were not registering recipients of state benefits to vote with sufficient vigor. Furthermore, the DOJ is demanding that the Secretary release the private, personal information of every registered voter in Louisiana. There will be a brief appearance on video by the Secretary of State, Tom Schedler.

The DOJ’s lawsuit, essentially a copycat suit to one filed by Project Vote and the NAACP in New Orleans in May of 2011, is in spite of the fact that Louisiana is ranked fourth in the entire country in terms of voter registration with over 84% percent of the eligible electorate registered to vote.

Cost for the meal is $14.00, ice tea, tax and gratuity included. The Roundtable is open to the public and guests are welcome. Reservations are requested. Phone 225-644-5728 or e-mail: ARWrUS@aol.com

In keeping with ARW’s on-going community service project, the St. Theresa Food Bank, members and guests are asked to bring non-perishable items to this and any ARW event.
