From The Weekly Standard, we learn that Sen. Burris was responsible for larding up the health care bill with six new “Offices of Minority Health” in various government agencies. Guess who is getting lots of grant money to “assure improved health status of racial and ethnic minorities, and … develop measures to evaluate the effectiveness of activities aimed at reducing health disparities and supporting the local community … evaluate community outreach activities, language services, [and] workforce cultural competence …”?
“Organizations that are indigenous human resource providers in communities of color,” that’s who. Merry Christmas, ACORN.
Seriously, money for ACORN will anger a lot of the voting public. Passage of this bill is not yet a fait accompli. If we find one or two more of these “hidden gems” in the bill, we may just be able to beat it.
