The national conservative blogosphere is beginning to get involved in the Louisiana District 3 race, as it is a very likely Republican pickup this fall – and with two attractive conservative candidates who have begun to score national attention in spots and create some name recognition, the race between Hunt Downer and Jeff Landry looks to be one of the more interesting GOP primary campaigns in the country. It’s certainly at this point the most interesting Congressional primary in the state (there aren’t many to choose from; the only other contested Congressional primary is on the Democrat side in the 6th District between state legislators Cedric Richmond and Juan LaFonta for the right to take on Joseph Cao and a number of independent candidates in the fall).
