The question’s been raised by some of my radical acquaintances: can Obama be impeached for going against the wishes of the people of the United States?

The short answer is: No.

Nothing he’s done rises to meet the definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors”. The impeachment issue becomes moot because we can’t define the incumbent’s possible criminality. The relevant question is: if your candidate loses the election and your chosen party is in the minority in Congress, do you have representation? If the answer is no; do you feel you’re being taxed without representation?

Richard Nixon’s situation created a hazily defined boundary for a President to be aware of and hopefully avoid. His alleged crime involved Criminal Conspiracy, Complicity Before and After the Fact in a Burglary and Subornation of Justice by engineering a cover-up to avoid justice. His statement to David Frost (1977 – Sir David Paradine Frost – The Guardian. Co. UK 2007) when asked: “Would you say that there are certain situations – and the Huston Plan was one of them – where the president can decide that it’s in the best interests of the nation, and do something illegal?” Nixon’s answer was: “Well, when the president does it that means it is not illegal.”

This indicated a diseased thought process of people holding the highest office of the land since the Wilson Administration. Nixon’s thought process involves the mistaken belief election by the people is a statement of license by mandate for the President to overrule the Congress and Supreme Court in any matter he feels acceptable. This would include the commissioning of any act another citizen would stand before the Bar of Justice for trial and punishment for committing. Presidents take upon themselves the mantle of God and dared anybody to disprove the claim. And, the defining element of this belief is in the judgment of the President alone. There was no prosecution or impeachment. The haze left behind by the politics extended.

America is responsible for some of the greatest advances in world history. The sciences, mathematics, medicine and many others have progressed because of the intelligence, drive and actions of some of the greatest minds to be blessed by birth with, or assume the title: American Citizen. But, for all of the progress in the evolution of the American Citizen we’re mired in the concretion Modern American Politics has become.

Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) believed the President (because the President was elected by vote of the majority of the people) was the ONLY one allowed to dictate the government’s course. Wilson believed this because he was an intellectual, bred, born, nurtured and raised in an upper-class structure. He was a member of a southern “religio-aristocratic” family with Confederate leanings in politics as a Democrat and a firm belief in slavery. His education was upper class and for the duration of his life felt himself above and apart from those of lesser standing as defined by wealth and education.  He attended college first in North Carolina and then at Princeton. He attended Law School but found the practice of law stunted his growth as a student of politics and government.

Wilson (and to an extent his opponent Theodore Roosevelt) is the progenitor of the modern political system. This system is called Progressivism (both political parties are guilty). Progressivism is the dominant force and theory behind ALL of the political intrigues plaguing America since that time. The modern development and furtherance of a peculiarly American feudal system started here.

There will always be those believing themselves superior based on the extension of their bank balance and the size and extent of their financial holdings. But, it’s to be noted that in history, the genesis of the Progressive Era is where America came to be defined by the self-developed borders of those having, as opposed to those who have not.

Nowhere has this been displayed in greater clarity than in the treatment of the American people by those elected to represent them. Congress (and government in general) has the greatest per capita concentration of Plutocrats (someone who rules by virtue of his/her wealth-and sincerely believes it’s only correct they should) to be gathered in one area.

Thanks for listening.
