Paul LePage is the new Republican governor in Maine. He has an adopted son from Jamaica who happens to be black, and for several years when he was the mayor of Waterville he gave speeches at annual breakfasts to mark the Martin Luther King day holiday.
But when the NAACP came to LePage and demanded that he jump through a bunch of hoops for them for this year’s MLK holiday, including speaking to a group of black prisoners at the state pen (it’s not at Shawshank like in the movie, is it?), he told them to take a hike.
Or something sorta like that…
