The clip is of an interaction between Rep. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) and a couple of Medicare Trust Fund board members, and it’s instructive – since he gets those board members to admit that when Medicare goes broke in 2024 (at current estimates), we’ll see rationing. They define it as “access issues,” but when Medicare starts paying doctors in wampum or Groupons and those doctors stop treating Medicare patients it more or less means the end of the program.
Boustany makes the case that Medicare’s ending, period. The question is what comes next.
