Aw, Jeez: Really, Jefferson?

WBRZ-TV In Baton Rouge had this just now

BATON ROUGE – Police investigating a fight outside a Baton Rouge bar last night said LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson is involved in the disturbance.

EMS responded to a call at Shady’s bar south of the campus around 2 a.m., but didn’t transport anyone to the hospital.

Sgt. Don Stone with Baton Rouge Police said Jefferson was implicated in the altercation, and witness statements implicated other football players as suspects as well. Jefferson was not arrested, and Stone said they are still investigating.

Officials at LSU said they had no comment about the situation, because they had no information about the incident occurring.

Sports 2 will have more on the situation starting at noon.

It’s premature to unload on this kid right now. Let’s just say for him to be swingin’ at people barely two weeks before his senior year where he’s supposed to finally become a good quarterback and lead the team, well…

Disappointing.

Hopefully there isn’t much to this. Hopefully.

UPDATE: The message boards say that Jefferson kicked a guy in the head.

Which brings this to mind. It’s Friday, after all…

Anyhow, Stone has another quote out on all this…

“Our offices were dispatched out to the area of Shady’s Bar on East Boyd last night in reference to a fight. We interviewed four people that were involved in the fight, all four of these (people) transported themselves to local hospitals. Three went to one area hospital and another one to another. We have interviews with witnesses who implicate LSU football players being involved, one in particular, Mr. Jordan Jefferson. At this time, we are currently investigating those implications. We are not saying Mr. Jefferson is a suspect or a victim at this point … We want it known that, at this point, Mr. Jefferson is not listed as a suspect in this investigation as of right now.”

There’s all kinds of other stuff out there about all this, but there’s no particular reason to think any of it is credible. Maybe it is, but since those stories are a crapshoot I won’t go there.

If Vegas took the game off the board when they found out Darron Thomas was riding in Cheech & Chong’s car at 120 MPH, what will they do with this?
