He was right then. Of course, much of that debt was run up in 2007 and 2008, when his pals controlled Congress. The federal deficit in those two years was a combined $1.9 trillion – $459 billion in FY 2008 and $1.413 trillion in FY 2009. Some of that FY 2009  deficit was even run up under Obama thanks to money he shoveled out the door immediately after taking office.

But to the extent he wanted to blame everything on “unpatriotic” Dubya, what’s it make him when he’s run up more debt than Bush did? The RNC is cranking out ads one after another to point this kind of stuff out, and here’s the latest…
