Boustany claims he has a large lead? Dewhurst claimed the same over Ted Cruz

Boustany claimed today that he has an internal poll showing he has a 38 point lead of Jeff Landry.   In TX, Ted Cruz’s opponent claimed large leads in the polls too.  Look how that turned out for Lt. Gov. Dewhurst.

Even more extreme, Boustany claims he is beating Jeff in St. Mary, St. Martin and Iberia by 19 points

We all know that that number is completely laughable.  We all know Jeff has strong support in our parishes. If you look back on Landry’s Facebook page, you will see supporters stating they were called with a poll that was trashing Jeff Landry and was obviously biased.  You can make a poll say anything you want it to say if you bash one of the candidates.

You may see these numbers in the press, but don’t believe everything you read in the paper.  Jeff is gaining momentum and Boustany knows it.  He is releasing this right before qualifying thinking he can push Jeff out the race.  You know Jeff………He’s not going anywhere.

As you can see below in 2010, Hunt Downer tried this same stunt and Jeff beat him by 16 points in the first primary and by almost 30 in the run off.

Downer Leaving Army, Leading 3rd District Poll

Maj. Gen. Hunt Downer retires from the Army National Guard at month’s end, freeing him, as expected, to soon announce his candidacy for Congress in the 3rd District.

A Magellan Strategies poll of Republicans done in early March spots Downer a 43-16 percent lead over Jeff Landry of New Iberia. The 300-sample survey commissioned by major GOP contributor Boysie Bollinger shows Downer with a solid base in Terrebonne-Lafourche parishes, home to 30 percent of voters.

Landry’s consultant Brent Littlefield disputes those numbers. “Something’s cooking in the kitchen,” he said.

Take what you hear from Boustany’s camp with a grain of salt.  Sounds like a desperate candidate making desperate claims.
