Jeff Landry On EPA Drones (The Planes, Not The Employees)

“I’m an anti-drone Republican.”

This is from yesterday. He’s pushing an amendment to H.R. 5961 (passed on voice in yesterday’s Committee hearing) which would ensure that the EPA cannot violate farmers’ Constitutional rights by flying drones over their lands to see if they’re violating the Clean Water Act.

And he points out that his friends on the other side of the aisle are caught in a trap on this one, because while they love the idea of Big Brother ensuring compliance with the all-important minutiae of their environmental utopianism, they also like to don the mantle of Protectors Of Civil Liberties. And you can’t really do both when the EPA is flying drones over Farmer Brown’s land to make sure he isn’t doing something horrid in his mud puddles, can you?
