In Egypt, The Monster Is Alive

They just stormed our embassy, and it’s a miracle no one was killed (particularly considering what happened next door in Libya).

And we were the ones apologizing to them while that was going on.

What did that get us? Are the “leaders” in Egypt doing everything they can to calm the situation?

Why, no. No, they’re playing to the mob there

Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi asked the Egyptian embassy in Washington to take legal action in the United States against makers of a film attacking the Muslim Prophet Mohammad, the official state news agency said on Wednesday.

Mursi had requested the mission take “all legal measures”, the MENA agency said, without giving further details on what that might involve.

Protesters who demonstrated outside the U.S. embassy in Cairo on Tuesday had demanded action by the president.

Mursi had nothing to say about the mob of 2,000 animals who stormed the U.S. embassy in Cairo and ran Al-Qaeda flags up on the flagpole where the American flag they tore to shreds had been. Nothing whatever to say – despite the fact that mob hit our embassy at the same time we were talking with them about free money for economic development and helping to finance their purchase of submarines.

Instead, what we got was this

Egypt’s prime minister said on Wednesday the U.S. government should not be blamed for a film that insulted the Prophet Mohammad and led to an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, but urged Washington to take action against the film producers.

“What happened at the U.S. embassy in Cairo is regrettable and rejected by all Egyptian people and cannot be justified, especially if we consider that the people who produced this low film have no relation to the (U.S.) government,” Prime Minister Hisham Kandil said, reading out a statement.

He added: “We ask the American government to take a firm position toward this film’s producers within the framework of international charters that criminalize acts that stir strife on the basis of race, color or religion.”

Huzzah! Obama isn’t at fault. But he’s being asked to trample the First Amendment. Or what?

We’ve unleashed a brand-new Iran in Egypt and we will regret it for a generation. This will get worse and worse.
