If you missed this segment on Cavuto yesterday, get some popcorn. It’s Eddie Bernice Johnson, the crooked Democrat Congresswoman from South Dallas, attempting to explain the Democrats’ position on the fiscal cliff.

Like we noted earlier, it’s difficult to offer full-throated criticisms of Republicans on the Hill for their fiscal cliff negotiations when these are the people with whom they’re forced to deal. Sure, Eddie Bernice Johnson and Hank Johnson don’t control votes in Congress – but you’ve got to remember they’re back-benchers who don’t have anything original to offer and what you’re seeing is them parroting talking points handed down from the party leadership.

And those talking points include nothing whatsoever about cuts to entitlement programs. They involve almost solely the fantasy that you can close a trillion-dollar deficit by raising $80 billion in taxes on rich people. And challenging that fantasy basically shuts down the discussion.

Watch this, and try to come up with reasons for optimism…

Oh, by the way – Eddie Bernice Johnson just got elected as Ranking Member of the Space, Science and Technology subcommittee.
