ABBOTT: How About A Bill Giving A Giant Car Allowance To Clerks Of Court?

Today seems to be the day we Louisiana Taxpayers are learning just how much driving our public servants do, and how much we must pay to keep those wheels rolling.

A bill that has been pre-filed in the legislature would give an automobile allowance of 15% of the salary of seven North Louisiana Clerks of Court. HB 23 would apply to Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Lincoln, and Webster Parishes.

Clerks in fourteen other Louisiana parishes already receive the allowance.

As Clerk of Court salaries are all somewhere north of $100,000, the car allowance can be expected to be a minimum of $15,000.

Quite a pay raise.

Feel free to thank Rep. Richie Burford, R-Stonewall, for his generosity with your money. The Clerks of Court sure will.
