SARGE: Moral Cowadice

“Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.”

When you start looking into the depths of the American Political Psyche (APP) you find interesting subjects to debate. We have the American Work Ethic, an instance of extant drives for superior productivity and the progress derived from such. Then we have the ideal of Patriotism which is devoted love, support and defense of one’s country; it’s a condition of national loyalty.

But nobody debates the other, more often damaging, elements of the APP such as apathy, laziness and/or disinterest for the way and manner of conducting governmental business. This appears now from the dispassion developed for teaching Civics and citizenship in public education. It seems the teaching of and development of that love, support, defense of and loyalty to a person’s native land has become passé in some instances and threatening to the state in others.

America’s become a nation of the inefficient and the easily appeased. Some see continuing education as a matter of inefficiency in life; he/she quits school to enter a job market in a totally unqualified condition. Inexperienced and opinionated, they misinterpret their rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness as being the right to succeed, the right to take liberties with their future and the futures of their fellow citizens and that they may only be happy if allowed to behave in profligate ways serving nobody but themselves.

The APP is also reflected in the destruction of the family as a societal unit. People following the APP mentioned above mistake sexual satisfaction for love. They engage in acts of abandonment when the natural result of sexual profligacy appears in the form of childbirth. One parent leaves the actually established family and deserts the concept formerly known as the keystone of American productivity: a united and loving family constructed of a father, a mother and children.

We see less and less of the nuclear family.

Formerly, the family taught morals and ethics. These morals and ethics were developed in a historically “traditional” family. Most normally these ideals, morals and ethics were founded by members of the family imparting religious instruction and an appreciation of the spiritual direction to be derived from the development of faith in something greater than self.

Now the state is the highest power. Now the state teaches ethics in an unethical and governmentally self-servant manner. Loyalty to the state is commanded, no matter the political ideology’s direction. The state demands the love, support, loyalty and defense of the state rather than the nation as an entity composed of its citizenry. The ideology replaces the deity. The position of the individual is determined by the state. The state requires love and loyalty but is immune from the same edict to love and support its citizens. It need only provide subsistence.

People swallow, hook, line and sinker the propaganda offered by politicians with loyalty only to their own gains. The statists USE people’s genetic but undeveloped and non-nurtured love, support, loyalty for their country against them. The innocent hear the politicians making promises the pols know they can’t deliver and believe it. The sheer enormity and scope of modern government prevents the production of so much governmental largesse. No one man or woman can produce so much because there will always controversy and stagnation from the process.

But still people are unresponsive to the need to place government back into the hands of the common man and woman. They’re tired and expect somebody else will vote in their place and therefore absolve them of their responsibility to act in favor of their nation, their family and their children.

For people to act against a government such as exists in America today is to admit we as a people have been lazy. We’ve become detached from our reality in favor of a desire to not be bothered. We don’t want to see that when we look in the mirror because the damned truth hurts and is embarrassing to admit. To refuse to face these unpleasant facts is cowardice of the worst kind because it withers the individual soul and rots the heart of a nation. From this moral rot we betray the nation and our children’s future.

Thanks for listening.
