Regardless Of Who You Are, You Can’t Blame Merritt Landry…

Not when this goes on in his neighborhood.

New Orleans police are looking for four suspects in connection with the carjacking of two women and a 3-year-old girl in the Marigny on Saturday night.

Police also said they believe the men are connected to an earlier carjacking in the Bywater.

Meanwhile, one victim says she became frustrated Sunday when she could not contact police detectives to report possible leads.

The victim, who asked not to be identified for her safety, said she had been trying to reach New Orleans police and the detective assigned to her case all day Sunday. She said police were quick to respond Saturday night and spent several hours interviewing her and her sister, but that when she went to the 8th District NOPD station Sunday afternoon, an officer told her that they didn’t have anyone who could meet with her.

At a press conference Sunday night, NOPD Sgt. Ernest Luster said that the NOPD assigned night personnel to the case and they were unavailable during the day, but that they would be in touch with the victims Sunday night.

Landry is going on trial for attempted second degree murder because at 2 a.m. on a Thursday night his dog woke him up barking because someone was on his property, and, endeavoring to protect his pregnant wife and infant child in the house he drew his gun and fired on an intruder who had scaled a six-foot spiked fence to get into his side yard.

In a neighborhood where carjackings, home invasions and murders are commonplace despite it being one of the “hot” areas for middle-class folks to live in these days.

Put all this together and it should be little surprise that Landry’s support is building, and across racial lines. People in New Orleans – black and white alike – have had it with the punks and thugs who are preying on law-abiding folks…

The question is how much longer any of the Marigny people are going to put up with the Rev. Raymond Brown coming in and lecturing them about how they’re not allowed to protect their property against burglars just because those burglars happen to be black.
