Senator Elbert Guillory, the first black Louisiana Legislator in a century to switch to the Republican Party, will be the keynote speaker at the Ascension GOP Roundtable, sponsored by Ascension Republican Women. Rep. Clay Schexnayder and Rep John Berthelot are also slated to speak. The Roundtable is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at 6:00 p.m. at Brew-Bachers’s Grill, 909 E. Ascension St., Gonzales, LA 70737 (Behind the Gonzales Piccadilly) (6:00 to 6:30 – Registration & Socializing; 6:30 – Meeting)
Earlier this summer, Guillory attracted national attention with his powerful You Tube video explaining why he left the “government plantation” in favor of the Republican Party. Guillory again made news by the recent announcement that he will be serving as honorary chairman of the Free at Last PAC, which describes itself as being “formed by several leaders as an effort to support Black Republicans who run for federal office and also to educate Blacks about the values of the Republican Party.”
Cost for the meal is $14.00, ice tea, tax and gratuity included. The Roundtable is open to the public and guests are welcome. Reservations are requested. Phone 225-644-5728 or e-mail: [email protected]
In keeping with ARW’s on-going community service project, the St. Theresa Food Bank, members and guests are asked to bring non-perishable items to this and any ARW event.
