Analogies are something. I’m not sure what at times but mostly they point to the incongruities of life, I think. One that’s slamming into the core of my reality quest is concerning the Reverend Jamie Coots.

Reverend Coots was handling a rattlesnake at his Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus’ Name Church in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was bitten by the rattlesnake on Saturday night. Reverend Coots was immediately aware of the very painful bite and was envenomate on the spot. But, as is often the case with believers of this particular sect of Christianity, Reverend Coots gathered up his snakes and continued on with his preaching of the gospel according to his beliefs.

Most people believe this faith and understanding comes from men and women’s belief in the statement issued in The Gospel of Mark 16:18 (King James Version). It states: “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” In reality it comes from the statement noted in Mark 16:16-17: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned: (16:17) and these signs shall follow them that believe; they shall cast out devils; they shall speak in new tongues.”

And this is where the analogy stuff comes in. Have you noticed the Democrat policy has emulated the Gospel of Mark in some ways? In their unwavering support of ObamaCare, they’ve proven themselves true believers as is Obama. In Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s belief system: “he that believeth” in this failed and foolishly overreaching program “shall be saved”. And they shall receive massive funds and support for dancing with the other snakes working to maintain this fraud bulldozed over the people.

In consequence for “he that believeth not;” he “shall be damned.” This appears to take the form of constant vilification and disparagement based on no more than the interpretation of a specific thought process followed by only one political party. All people rejecting the thought of dancing with, courting the affections of a serpent by actively kissing the thing and in general placing themselves in jeopardy are wrong and thus doomed to damnation in the eyes of the lord (in this case the Gods Obama, Reid and Pelosi). This gospel teaches the one profound commandment that “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved”.

I agree wholeheartedly.

But, I do believe it doesn’t state the immutable logic in the real universe and expressed elsewhere in the Bible and other religious references. That logic is this: for the righteousness of our actions there will be rewards in the afterlife. For our foolishness in believing snakes don’t bite we’ll suffer the consequences of those actions. Nowhere does it state there is only reward for action and no penalty for the abuses of those activities.

The Democrats and many Republicans have been dancing with snakes for a long time now. They’ve drunk from alkali waters and strong poisons for over a century. And, because we’ve not made them suffer the consequences of their actions they’ve come to believe they alone have the ability to govern. This is because in their minds they are anointed by God and thus immune from the consequences of their actions.

Government is now apparently a religion followed closely by people slavishly in lockstep, their minds shackled to each other and acceptant of no other interpretation of the governmental creed and doctrine than that given them by their forebears. So they dance to the tune taught them by their elders and they sing the praises they learned by rote memory. They don’t go beyond the basis if the ONE verse to understand the entire scripture in the Bible.

There are many things to be learned from the books, passages and sages quoted in scripture. But if you only give your attention to only the one passage and place your faith in only one way of doing things, you fail to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

You run the risk of being bitten by your own ignorance and suffering the consequences of your misguided actions. The Democrats may just come to understand this the hard way.
