“On Sunday, Secretary of State John Kerry discussed events surrounding #Bergdahlgate on CNN. When asked to share his thoughts on one of five Taliban commanders recently released from Guantanamo Bay, who has already vowed to kill Americans again, Kerry said:

“President Barack Obama is calling tens of thousands of illegal-immigrant children languishing in temporary U.S. holding pens an ‘urgent humanitarian situation,’ but Republicans are pointing the finger of blame squarely at the White House.” – UK Daily Mail

“The Senate playing field remains fairly broad. There are 10 races where we give each party at least a 20 percent chance of winning, so there is a fairly wide range of possible outcomes. But all but two of those highly competitive races (the two exceptions are Georgia and Kentucky) are in states that are currently held by Democrats. Furthermore, there are three states — South Dakota, West Virginia, and Montana — where Democratic incumbents are retiring, and where Republicans have better than an 80 percent chance of making a pickup, in our view.” – Nate Silver/538

“If a soldier who volunteered to serve in the military rapes or murders someone while in uniform, has he served honorably? Has Bradley Manning, who voluntarily joined the military and then betrayed his country by turning over hundreds of thousands of documents to WikiLeaks, served honorably? Did Benedict Arnold, another volunteer, serve with ‘honor and distinction?'” – Ralph Peters/National Review

I guess Mississippi doesn’t want Federal money anymore,” revolving-door K Streeter John Feehery posted on Twitter last week. Republican primary voters had just declined to renominate Sen. Thad Cochran, the Republican pork king, and instead forced him into a runoff that he’s likely to lose. “I betcha there are 49 states that will gladly take it.” – Washington Examiner

“The Clintons, who are so fond of reminding voters that former President Bill Clinton left behind a budget surplus, were not so particular about their personal finances in the late 1990s. If you forgot that little historical detail, Hillary Clinton is happy to remind you that she, too, has ‘struggled’ and knows what ‘dead broke’ feels like.” – Hot Air

Barack Obama has had an unusual presidency, winning election twice with a majority of the vote, yet frequently saddled with a job approval rating below 50 percent. In fact, only during his “honeymoon” period in 2009 and around his reelection in 2012 has a majority of the population approved of his performance for more than mere days at a time.” – POLITICO

There can be no question that the Obama administration is lawless. Senator Ted Cruz last month compiled a well-documented list of abuses, though even he missed a few — such as the administration’s refusal to properly consult Congress about its use of force in Libya and its refusal to enforce voter-integrity laws, among others. Now, of course, comes Obama’s almost certain violation of the law with regard to the Bergdahl case.” – Quin Hillyer/National Review

“Over the last several months, the American public has had a hard and clear look at the executive talent inside the White House, and has begun to despair for real leadership and competence.” – Ed Morrissey/Fiscal Times

“The White House allowed the parents of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to take part in a series of secure video conferences with State Department and intelligence officials and senior military commanders, according to a published report.” – Fox News
