Our buddy Brent Barksdale, the political consultant who’s also famous for the “Donkey Whisperer” ad he did for Rep. Roger Williams a few years ago, sent us this in an e-mail yesterday – this ad is his handiwork on behalf of the conservative national-security organization Secure America Now.
And before we could even open the e-mail we saw the Fox News folks talking about it.
But before we show you the ad, we’ll show you its progenitor. Back in the 1964 presidential election, this was a spot the Lyndon B. Johnson campaign ran in an attempt to scare voters away from the “warmonger” Barry Goldwater (while LBJ was busily ramping up the war in Vietnam, no less)…
Things are a little different now, of course – because we’re not in the midst of a nuclear arms race but rather trying – weakly – to stop the Iranians from starting a new one.
So Barksdale produced this…
It’s a good bit more honest than LBJ’s ad was, and it’s generating a bit of buzz on its own.
