Unless you’re a college professor trying to relive your 60’s, liberal glory days, chances are you’re not watching MSNBC. Therefore, you probably did not catch MSNBC host Rachel Maddow blatantly lie about Rep. Joni Ernst (IA), who is running for the Senate in Iowa, comments on gun rights.

Here’s what Rachel Maddow claimed Ernst said: “I believe in the right to defend myself from the government.”

Here’s what Ernst actually said: “I believe in the right to defend myself and my family, whether it’s from an intruder or whether it’s from the government.”

Maddow’s deception was to portray Ernst as a survivalist who needs to be admitted to an asylum for fearing that “the government” is out to get her. When in actuality, Ernst was simply saying that gun rights are there to protect her family, as well as potentially protecting her family from “a government.”
