Col. Rob Maness is not a long-shot candidate in the Louisiana Senate race, according to a new poll funded by the Family Research Council (FRC), which has endorsed Maness.
In a new poll by FRC Action, Maness is doing a hell of a lot better in today’s Senate race which makes the poll at odds with recent polls which show the conservative struggling to pick-up support.
In the jungle primary where Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) go up against Maness, Landrieu leads with 36 percent while Cassidy follows with 30 percent and Maness with 18 percent.
But, in an unlikely run-off between Maness and Landrieu, Maness leads with 44 percent while Landrieu garners only 33 percent. In a likely run-off between Cassidy and Landrieu, Cassidy leads with 48 percent and Landrieu follows with 36 percent.
Tony Perkins, the President of the Family Research Council, stumped for Maness, saying “Support for Rob Maness is rising statewide, while Landrieu and Cassidy are falling. This poll shows Maness can win a runoff against Landrieu.”
The poll surveyed 10,000 homes on Saturday in Louisiana.
