It’s not uncommon for people to raffle off tickets for an event, gift certficates, or other items like that. However, David Vitter wants you to enter a raffle for a box of M855 5.56 NATO ammo.
The raffle on his website is for the same type of ammunition that Barack Obama’s ATF tried to ban. However, the ATF is signaling that it is preparing to go after all 5.56 NATO ammo, which is the most common type of caliber in AR-15 rifles.
Here’s the link to his Facebook page which is promoting the contest.
More of the liberal minded commenters on the page were not happy with David Vitter’s giveaway. Here are a few of the choice comments:
M855 ammunition is not “armor-piercing” by any serious definition of the word.
Politically, this reinforces Vitter’s conservative credentials. This also helps Vitter among gun owners.
However, if you do win the ammunition, you must pass a Federal background check. You must also be 18 years of age or older and be a legal United States resident.
