Drew Brees To New Orleans City Council: ‘Legalize Uber!’

New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees has a litte message for the New Orleans City Council: Approve ride-sharing services, like UberX, for the residents of the city.

This Thursday, the City Council will decide on an ordinance that would essentially allow UberX, and other ride-sharing app services, to fully operate in the city.

UberX’s ‘ride-sharing’ service would allow for individuals to use their own vehicles to transport Uber customers around the city.

And Brees is on-board.

Brees took to Twitter to advocate that Uber be fully legalized:

Uber Black, marketed as the solution to bad taxi services, is already operating in New Orleans after the City Council legalized the use of digital dispatching for car services back in September of 2014.

The City Council is likely to debate how ride-sharing services should be regulated. Taxi drivers may see their regulations rolled back in order to put them on the same playing field with UberX, ride-sharing drivers.

Or, ride-sharing services could see heavy regulation, even after being legalized, like criminal background checks for drivers and required commercial liability insurance.
