The Red River Is Flooding – Impressively

Given all the rain in Texas and Oklahoma a week ago and the floodwaters it created, there was lots of warning for the people in northwest Louisiana that the Red River was going to be quite full when the water made its way east. The Red, as those of our readers who do not struggle with their knowledge of geography are aware, forms much of the border between Texas and Oklahoma and all of the border between Texas and Arkansas.

So, here comes the water down the red – and it has made its way into the Shreveport area.

KSLA obtained some aerial shots from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s office

And the Caddo Parish Constable’s office posted a few interesting shots to its Facebook page…

Perhaps the most interesting bit of information for non-Shreveporters coming out of all this is the fact there are people who build what look like very nice and expensive houses on the river side of the levee along the Red River. One wonders what the insurance companies will think of that choice now.
