Americans hold the same views about the Confederate Flag that they did about 10-15 years ago.
In a new CNN poll, 57 percent of Americans said that the Confederate Flag is a symbol of Southern pride. Back in the year 2000, about 59 percent of Americans agreed, that the Confederacy stood for heritage.
However, though the majority of Americans still see the Confederate Flag as Southern pride, retailers, merchandisers and organizations are still engaging in an all-out culture war over the symbol.
Here in Louisiana, the Slidell Wal-Mart actually refused to make a cake with the Confederacy logo on it, but they did make a cake with the ISIS terrorist group’s logo on it.
Across the country, Wal-Mart has decided to purge their stores of all Confederacy merchandise. And Amazon.com has jumped on board as well, even though they will continue to sell Nazi-related merchandise and the Satanic Bible.
Then, just this week, NASCAR has asked that its fans stop flying the Confederate Flag at sporting events.
Likewise, TV Land has pulled the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ off the air because the famous car the Southern rebel characters drive is graced with a Confederate Flag.
All of this uproar and chaos in major companies and organizations for what? The public still does not see the Confederacy as a symbol of hate or racism.
So why the outcry to cease sales of anything related to the Confederacy?
Mainly because this is a culture war. For the Left, their point is to get across to the public that the Founding Fathers were racists who should have never aided in the American Revolution.
As we saw today, in an article from Vox, the Left has made it clear that they are somewhat against the American Revolution, which inherently makes them against the idea of Americanism.
Their culture war is much deeper than the Confederate Flag.
Just as Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans will not stop at tearing down Robert E. Lee Circle, the Left will not stop at attacking the heritage of the country.
Their fight is an attack on the country, not a little, old flag.
