Michael Brown Attacked A Cop, But His Family Was Just Awarded $1.5 Million Anyway

Y’all remember Michael Brown? He was the 18-year-old black boy who attacked a police officer and was killed by the cop. It led to riots in Ferguson, Missouri.

Well, his family sued the city and the city settled with the family. Apparently, if you attack a police officer and get killed in the process, your family can collect $1.5 million in the process.

From NBC News:

The insurance company for the city of Ferguson, Missouri, paid $1.5 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Michael Brown’s parents, the city attorney said Friday.

Attorney Apollo Carey disclosed the amount in an email in response to an open records request. The settlement of the federal lawsuit was announced Tuesday, but financial details were not initially released.

Carey declined further comment on the settlement. A phone message seeking comment from the attorney for the family, Anthony Gray, was not immediately returned.

Michael Brown attacked a police officer when he was shot. But that did not stop the left from making him a martyr in order to attack police officers. They even created the lie called “hands up, don’t shoot” based on the incident.

From the New York Times:

The most credible eyewitnesses to the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., said he had charged toward Police Officer Darren Wilson just before the final, fatal shots, the St. Louis County prosecutor said Monday night as he sought to explain why a grand jury had not found probable cause to indict the officer.

The accounts of several other witnesses from the Ferguson neighborhood where Mr. Brown, 18 and unarmed, met his death on Aug. 9 — including those who said Mr. Brown was trying to surrender — changed over time or were inconsistent with physical evidence, the prosecutor, Robert P. McCulloch, said in a news conference.

“The duty of the grand jury is to separate fact and fiction,” he said in a statement watched by a tense nation. “No probable cause exists to file any charges against Darren Wilson.”

But instead of fighting the Browns, the city of Ferguson foolishly settled the lawsuit. It will lead to other bogus lawsuits by other families of those killed by cops.  The settlement is a disgrace.
