Kaitlyn is 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. She has burgundy hair and hazel eyes. This what Kaitlyn looks like:

Sgt. David Roberts of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office told MLive that he did not know what information police in Michigan had received that led them to believe Kaitlyn might be in Texas.

The East Texas CrimeStoppers and other outreach efforts are being utilized to share images of Kaitlyn, hoping to find her if she is in the area.

Kaitlyn has been missing since May 20.

A student at Standish-Sterling High School, she left her home with only a packed backpack. Police previously stated that they believed Kaitlyn ran away but declined to say whether or not she had been abducted.

Every day since May 20, Kaitlyn’s mother, Kristi Leonard, posts on Facebook that her daughter is still missing. She describes her as artistic and an animal lover.

“She’s a very beautiful, bright, artistic person,” Kristi Leonard told MLive. “She enjoys drawing and painting. She is also a very gifted tap dancer. She has a heart of gold and loves her cats, Scarlettee and Si, along with any animal. She is really such a sweet girl willing to help whenever and wherever she was needed.”

Anyone with information about Kaitlyn is urged to call the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department at 989-846-3002 or the Center for Search & Investigations for Missing Children at 512-887-3519, reference case number 18-4884.
