The Louisiana Department of Education recently launched a new program called “Classroom Chronicles,” which is a new blog series designed to highlight Louisiana teachers.
Each month, the blog will spotlight an educator who takes “that extra step to make an impact on the lives of their students, school and community” the department states.
The first spotlight in the Classroom Chronicles series features Kathryn Ferguson, a Caddo Parish middle school teacher. Ferguson, the departments says, “has found a simple but effective way to promote kindness in her school community.”
Ferguson is also the 2019 Louisiana Middle School Teacher of the Year.
She initiated a “Caught being kind” program in her school, which rewards students for being kind to others.
The Department is seeking nominations for future spotlights. Anyone can nominate an educator by completing a simple online form.
