I’m Going To Brag A Little About My Book, Because This Review Just Came In…

Our readers know by now that a little over a month ago I published my first novel Animus: A Tale of Ardenia, which is the first book I’ve written and certainly the first foray into fiction writing.

It’s the most fun I’ve had as an adult, and I’m now working on the second book in what’s going to be a four-book series. It’s an action-adventure novel set in a world not too dissimilar to ours, and I’ve thrown a lot of historical analogies into the story along with what I hope are relatable characters to tell the tale of two countries – one recognizable to us as an early industrial age U.S. or U.K. and the other, something a lot less civilized – as they engage in a bloody struggle which erupts anew as the story begins.

We’ve had nothing but five-star reviews on Amazon so far, but this is the best one yet

I am over 60 and have read a train load of books in my time – mostly fiction. But these last years I have been reading mostly non-fiction as I couldn’t find any fiction that kept me engrossed enough to read to the end much less the series …..until now!

This is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC book and I cannot wait for the rest of the series! I read the free pages online and was hooked…I had to find out what happened next to those great characters!

One review claims it is “Game of Thrones meets Atlas Shrugged”…I guess….but I think that doesn’t do it justice. For me it read as late 19th century/early 20th century (and a little steampunkish) meets Atilla the Hun! I found that a FASCINATING storyline. Two civilizations clash!

This book has a little of everything: historical (to the land created), political intrigue, spycraft, romance, adventure and war. The characters are extremely well fleshed out and the storyline is captivating! Before you know it you are at the last page and wanting more!

I am recommending this to all my fellow fiction lovers! This is a keeper and I can’t wait for the rest of the series….so get writing McKay and what took you so long!!

To Mr. (or Ms.) MML, there’s good news. I’m working on Perdition: A Tale of Ardenia, which is the second book in the series, now, though with the Louisiana elections in the way I’m not as fully engaged in it as I’d like to be, but there’s a good 75 pages of notes and snippets already laid down.

And with LSU and the Saints both off this weekend, I’ll be hammering away at the second book. I’m shooting to have it out by Mardi Gras.

Meanwhile, Kevin Gallagher is hard at work finishing his read of the audiobook version of Animus, which should be available on all of Amazon’s audiobook affiliate platforms no later than Thanksgiving.

If you want to find out more about Animus, there’s the Tales of Ardenia website, the Tales of Ardenia Facebook page and of course the book’s Amazon page, which contains several more reviews a lot like the one above!
