As many of The Hayride’s readers know, our site is largely kept going through revenue from events we do around the state of Louisiana and, soon (we hope) in Texas as well.

But the arrival of the Wuhan virus has made our event marketing business all but impossible to do for the time being, and so we’re going to call a bit of an audible and we’d love your help.

This isn’t an online fundraiser. Not really. We’d much rather sell you something than beg you for money. Accordingly, we’re now pre-selling tickets and sponsorships to the Hayride events which will be held at dates we can’t guarantee just yet, and at prices you’ll love.

Our next event is the big Hayride dinner we hold at the Renaissance Hotel in Baton Rouge. It was scheduled for April 16. That date isn’t likely workable; we’ve rescheduled it for May 14 at that same venue, and we’re hoping the frenzy surrounding the virus will have abated by then so the event can be held.

But since it’s still very much in the air, we can’t sell tickets to it at full price.

Accordingly, tickets which last year were $80 are now only $50. And table sponsorships which were $1500 last year are now just $1000.

That’s a pretty good deal, wouldn’t you say?

It’s also a deal we’re running on our other four events around the state – in Shreveport on May 21, in Metairie on August 13, and in Lafayette on September 10.

We’re also offering, for a limited time, a special season-ticket package. While single-event tickets are going for $50, tickets for all four events are going for $150. And while tables for single events are $1000, a table at each of our four events is now only $3000 – a 50 percent discount from last year.

It’s a fire sale, or if you’d prefer, it’s a virus sale.

But if you can’t make an event and you’d like to help anyway, we’ve got a $25 option to support the site. Even there we’re not begging – for that price we’ll throw in a signed copy of Hayride publisher Scott McKay’s first novel Animus!

Times are rough, but we’re rougher. We know our readers are, too. We’ll get through this, and when the virus is gone we’ll see you on the tour!
