Elizabeth Warren Suspends Campaign for President

It has become a two-man race for the Democrat nomination for President after US Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) withdrew her candidacy yesterday.

Pressure began mounting on the Senator from Massachusetts after the Oklahoma native failed to win either of her home states on Super Tuesday, leaving her with no path to victory.

Fellow Democrats praised the “progressive” leader as she exited the national stage, posturing with the hope of recruiting her base’s support but no endorsement has been announced.

Former Vice President Joe Biden tweeted,

“Senator @EWarren is the fiercest of fighters for middle class families. Her work in Washington, in Massachusetts, and on the campaign trail has made a real difference in people’s lives. We needed her voice in this race, and we need her continued work in the Senate.”

Not to be out-done, Senator Bernie Sanders opined,

“.@ewarren has taken on the most powerful corporate interests because she cares about those who have been left behind. Without her, the progressive movement would not be nearly as strong as it is today. I know that she’ll stay in this fight and we are grateful that she will.”

President Trump teased Warren on her way out tweeting,

“Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren, who was going nowhere except into Mini Mike’s head, just dropped out of the Democrat Primary…THREE DAYS TOO LATE. She cost Crazy Bernie, at least, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Texas. Probably cost him the nomination! Came in third in Mass.”

After sorting out the madness of Super Tuesday, the delegate count stands as follows:

Joe Biden – 626

Bernie Sanders – 550

The absence of Warren will leave Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders to fight it out until the Democrat National Convention where Biden will have the advantage that Hillary Clinton did in 2016 – several hundred “super delegates” who may vote as they wish, or as they are told by Party leaders.
