Many anglers consider this to be one of the toughest months of the year to catch speckled trout. After all, conventional wisdom says the fish are in transition, and that means they’re scattered to the four winds with few concentrations anywhere.

That may be true, but Jeff Bruhl of Madisonville has been fishing Bayou Liberty on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain for decades, and this season never disappoints him. It certainly didn’t this week.
