MARSH MAN MASSON: Want Flounder? Look For This Surf Feature

Every now and then in fishing, you run across a setup that you just know is going to be a slam-dunk. That happened to me this week while sitting on the beach in Perdido, Fla., watching small waves roll onto the shore from a mostly calm Gulf of Mexico.

It was right at the nadir of low tide, and because of that, I could see a crescent-shaped sandbar emerging from the beach and arcing around an obvious trough. I walked over to it, pinned it in my phone, and came back early the next morning to see if it held fish. I’m happy to report, it did.
