On Wednesday, May 31^st of this year, well known populist socialist leftist Democrat Foster Campbell (D. Elm Grove) had a fundraiser/protection racket event at the City Club of Baton Rouge. Which in itself is kind of unusual considering he is term limited and not running for any reelection, and at 76 years of age, unlikely to seek any particular other office when he terms out near the age of 80.

Is he is simply building a campaign fund for some other no-name socialist leftist Democrat that will potentially replace him in 2027? How sleazy is that?

In attendance at this fundraiser were the usual cast of characters from utility land along with a litany of leftist gadflies. The recently elected PSC Commissioner Davante Lewis (D. Baton Rouge) was in attendance to do his leaders bidding. More surprisingly, was that included in the crowd supporting the longtime Republican-hating Campbell, was no less than the executive assistant of PSC Commissioner Craig Greene (R. Baton Rouge), Mr. David Zito.

Mr. Zito is a non-licensed attorney who, to all reports functions as the de facto PSC Commissioner from the Baton Rouge-Lafayette district. He is reported by many utility participants as, not only Commissioner Greene’s gatekeeper, but his actual stand-in.

Greene, an active orthopedic surgeon, works full time in his medical practice, mostly allowing an hour on Friday afternoons to meet with interested parties on Commission issues. The rest of the week, his assistant, Mr. Zito, functions fully in his stead. On that issue, there is no love in utility land. But more on that at a later date in an updated article to come.

What’s most interesting is that during the above described fundraiser Foster Campbell gave a speech to the attendees. He beamed with pride, declaring that his power was complete in force as the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, courtesy of the support of one republican vote of Craig Greene. And Commissioner Campbell declared to the crowd that he has “control of three votes on the Public Service Commission” to accomplish any goal. For those not familiar, three (out of five) votes control the commission.

So, the Public Service Commission of the State of Louisiana is controlled by three Democrats. Whether they are Democrats in name or Democrats in purpose. A Republican who votes against the other two Republicans on the Commission, Eric Skrmetta (R. Metairie) and Mike Francis (R. Crowley) is not much of a Republican. That person is decidedly a RINO and who answers the call that lies within their own mind of serving the interests of, from his own lips, the self-declared leading Democrat in Louisiana, Foster Campbell.

Louisiana is a conservative state that has worked very hard to separate itself from the leftist socialist democratic construct that has hampered solid progress for the people in this state. Now, with the addition of PSC Commissioner Lewis, who is a member of the democratic socialists of Baton Rouge, eager to serve the will of Commissioner Campbell and now apparently Commissioner Greene joins their team. And Campbell is even supported by Greene’s own executive assistant who attends and supports the self-declared enemy of Republicans in the State of Louisiana.

The citizens of Louisiana should take notice and take action to reassess and reconstruct the Louisiana Public Service Commission and form it into the conservative body that has served it so well while it was out of the hands of the three leftists votes that have themselves publicly declared they support the enemy of conservatives, Foster Campbell.
