My American Spectator column today talks about the long train of abuses the Left has modified to include smears of those with whom they disagree which have zero relationship with reality, culminating in the utterly idiotic trashing of Ron DeSantis as a proponent of slavery because of an African-American history curriculum adopted in Florida’s schools, written by black scholars, which teaches that even under that ugly system there was nonetheless some upward social mobility for blacks and occasional humanity and philanthropy.
In other words, the truth.
They don’t like the truth. They think it can be bent and broken to serve their purposes, and they’re quite ruthless in dealing with people who would stand in the way. And before they went after DeSantis with everything they had, they even went after Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., calling him an anti-semite without any justification at all other than that he referenced the fact that Askenazi Jews tended to fare better under COVID and cited a study proving it and indicated that information like that could relate at some point to biological warfare.
Which proves a couple of things. First, that it doesn’t matter to them what’s true, but instead what matters is what they can use. And second, that they’ll attack anyone with whatever they can use if they think it helps them.
Which is why, for example, the Southern Poverty Law Center, a leading example of the Left’s attack dog herd which falsely claims to be a bulwark against bigotry and racism, has smeared the conservative group Moms for Liberty as an “extremist” organization.
It’s absurd, but they’re doing it…
MFL made its name in school board meetings, protesting COVID-19 mask and vaccine mandates. Their efforts quickly evolved into combating inclusive education and LGBTQ+ acceptance in schools and communities by pushing the narrative that children are being indoctrinated and sexualized through a radical “Marxist” agenda. Their tactics include advocating bans of books about people of color and the LGBTQ+ community, attacking the inclusion of hard histories in school curriculum, and targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community.
So according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, you’re not allowed to oppose efforts to inject your kids with an experimental treatment which isn’t proven to stop them from getting COVID but has some fairly serious side effects in a not-insignificant number of cases. You’re also not allowed to oppose the teaching of critical race theory and transgenderism in the schools, something the majority of Americans are opposed to. And if you think gay porn in the school library or in the kids’ section of the public library is a bad idea, that makes you an “extremist” and a book-burner.
The utter stupidity of this is hard to fully wrap one’s mind around, but this is what the Southern Poverty Law Center is now, and it brands any organization which supports ordinary Americans with majority positions on issues like this a “hate group.”
Which they’ve done to Moms for Liberty.
And when the Baton Rouge chapter of that organization holds a meeting and invites Cade Brumley, the superintendent of schools for the state of Louisiana, to talk about relevant issues under his purview, you get this…
Several LGBTQ+ advocates are criticizing Louisiana’s superintendent of education after he agreed to speak at a meeting held by a local parent group.
Dr. Cade Brumley was the guest speaker of the East Baton Rouge chapter of Moms for Liberty at its monthly meeting on Monday, July 24. The Southern Poverty Law Center classified the chapter and its national organization as hate groups.
The organization’s stance on LGBTQ+ legislation is what prompted dozens to show up and express their concerns to Dr. Brumley and the group.
“I’m disappointed. Not only for myself but for the people of Louisiana,” said Pearl Ricks.
Pearl Ricks is a man masquerading as a woman. He’s a representative of something called the Reproductive Justice Action Collective, which is a New Orleans outfit pushing abortion on demand. Ricks himself is an “advocate” for drag queens who groom children and has made his way to the state capitol to testify against bills like HB 648, which banned pediatric sex changes and sterilizing “puberty-blocker” drugs.

Ricks was one of several “activists” sent to the venue to protest Brumley’s speech to the Moms for Liberty event in an effort to intimidate its members.
The good news is that Brumley gave his speech in front of a decent crowd of 60 people or so, took questions from the audience and left without any major trouble.
And he went further, telling the truth about the organization and rebuking the cancelers.
“I think it’s wrong to label these moms as a hate group,” he said. “They’re passionate about their kids, they want what’s best for their kids, and that’s why I accepted their invitation to come here and share information about the education system in the state of Louisiana.”
Good for Brumley. It’s nice to see people in positions of responsibility standing for normal America even in the face of Hard Left goon-squad organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Reproductive Justice Action Collective.
