Democrats Might Want To Be Careful Tying Caddo Sheriff Race to Trump

My concern today is less on the actual Caddo Parish sheriff contest and more on the Louisiana Democrat Party’s choice of words in responding to it. Very likely, all their statement did is cast more doubt on the election process, which is actually a win for America First.

Jeff Sadow has done the heavy lifting on the politics of this story. Here is his summary of events.

In the certified election results, black Democrat Henry Whitehorn won by a single vote over white Republican John Nickelson. The preliminary loser sued for a new election, pointing to registrar of voter errors that allowed two people to vote on election day after voting early, four more under interdiction to vote, and haphazardly counted or rejected five known and possibly more absentee ballots, and that while Nickelson had missed deadlines to challenge these, he made a good faith and diligent effort to do so when these came to his attention. Bleich pointed out, and the appellate court confirmed, that, logically, Nickelson could not have known before or on election day that two double votes had occurred nor that four interdicted voters had done so as well nor had a chance to review any questionable absentee ballots, and as the votes cast, if cast for sheriff, couldn’t be known given the election system, so with a one-vote outcome a new election had to happen.

The majority essentially reaffirmed that errors made by the registrar couldn’t be held against Nickelson that created an unrealistic situation for him to appeal under the timeline established by law. They argued that the integrity of elections was paramount, and any election where more unquestionably illegal votes could have been cast than was the winning margin demanded a rerun to assure the public of the affirmed sanctity of elections. And they had clear Louisiana precedent backing that with the 1999 state Supreme Court decision Adkins v. Huckabay whose particulars were similar to Nickelson v. Whitehorn.

It was this decision by the lower court that the Louisiana Supreme Court, just last week, refused to hear. The new election is now set for March 23.

Democrat Party Chairwoman Katie Bernhardt

The Democrat Party’s statement reads as follows:

“Protecting our democracy has never been more important, because as we saw in the election of Donald Trump vs Joe Biden, Republicans don’t like to accept when they have lost,” Chairwoman Katie Bernhardt said. “Instead of following the will of the people, they simply use money and influence to attempt to overturn fair and lawful election results.

“They stated that two people voted twice, but what they failed to highlight is that the two people who voted twice were both registered Republicans who served in leadership positions for the Republican Party. The Louisiana Democratic Party will stand with Sheriff-Elect Whitehorn and the voters of Caddo Parish. In every election, the candidate with the most votes wins. We don’t get to throw a tantrum and seek to overturn the will of the people if we don’t like the results of an election.

“January 6, 2021 showed us how far Republicans are willing to go when they don’t get the results they want. Will he challenge the results again, when Whitehorn wins for a third time?

“The Louisiana Democratic Party stands for the will of the people and a fair election process. The votes have been counted, and re-counted, and Sheriff-Elect Whitehorn is the victor. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and join with the people of Caddo Parish and Sheriff-Elect Whitehorn to make sure his victory is what democracy looks like.

“A free and fair democracy doesn’t look like marching in the streets shouting ‘You will not replace us,’ nor does it look like the storming of the United States Capital [sic]. We must get back to respecting the will of the people and the election process, win or lose.”

Boy, that’s rich.

Republicans don’t like to accept when they have lost. Hm. One may wonder if the Democrats remember the Russia collusion hoax they put us through for years and still put us through. It is all simply the parroting of Mockingbird legacy media talking points, regardless of the fact that the January 6 evidence has all been released showing a vastly different reality.

Democrats may want to remember that there is a certain little trial coming up in March. You may have heard of it.

The official statement is the bombastic emptiness of a teenager trying to win an argument through blatant generalities and platitudes, something much of the American public have finally developed a smell for. The statement is so very typical of the lies progressives tell themselves and try to impose on what is becoming a less and less unsuspecting society.

Slowly, oh so slowly, the Left’s condescension is coming to an end. It is how Obama talked to us and still talks, and his minions have simply grown more and more vile with their audacious disposal of established truth, with their despicable disrespect of such a large number of Americans and their values. Regardless of what happens in the Caddo sheriff election, people are seeing through these concocted and clumsy attempts to conflate legitimate local concerns with national, legacy media-driven propaganda. It is a mistake to try to mislead the public in such a way, because all it will do is backfire on them when it dawns on enough people that having to employ distraction tactics with such lies from the national stage may actually speak very clearly to the legitimacy of local politics, namely the Nickelson team’s challenge.

Will that be the case in Caddo? I don’t know. But my point is the magnitude of public opinion, how the public sees what the Democrats are doing in this statement. People remember these things.

It’s one reason Republicans won in a landslide in the fall.

To the statement’s point about the “election process,” the simple truth of the matter is that election interference absolutely does exist and everyone knows it, at least on some level, even if they’ve somehow missed (or stubbornly ignored) the mountain range of evidence from the 2020 Presidential Election. Besides the 32-page report Trump shared Tuesday night just as I was drafting this article, here is just one of the countless things researchers have seen here and there over the years since that sham of a 2020 election. I see this type of thing almost every day. It just came out, once again, as I was drafting Tuesday evening:

Of course in a civilized two-party society, anyone would expect the Democrat Party spokesperson to release a statement in defense of Whitehorn. That Bernhardt did her job is not the issue for Democrats here. The issue is the unnecessary conflation. It is rife with the same claptrap gaslighting Louisiana patriots voted against in the recent fall election, highlighted by Republican Jeff Landry’s election as governor, a man who seems to be the exact antithesis of the exiting John Bel Edwards. Democrats might want to think twice before they pledge their allegiance and stake their argument on things like January 6 and the notion that Joe Biden won that election on merit. Even Mr Whitehorn might agree–he deserves a better defense than that.

May everyone named directly or referenced indirectly ask forgiveness and do penance for their sins against America and God. I fight this information war in the spirit of justice and love for the innocent, but I have been reminded of the need for mercy and prayers for our enemies. I am a sinner in need of redemption as well after all, for my sins are many. In the words of Jesus Christ himself, Lord forgive us all, for we know not what we do.
