KOENIG: It’s Louisiana’s Turn to Secure the Southern Border

Louisiana is now a border state. We can’t pretend otherwise anymore, especially with the more national news coming out of Texas.

Right now, a wide-scale invasion is going on at the US-southern border. Over the past three years, millions of illegals aliens have broken into our nation and flooded our communities with drugs, crime, and human trafficking.

An estimated one hundred thousand illegal aliens reside in Louisiana–roughly the size of a full Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. Clearly, illegal immigration is not just a Texas problem anymore. It is also a major threat to Louisiana, and our state’s elected officials need to address it.

Don’t believe me? Then, go look up some of the egregious crimes that illegal aliens have recently committed in Louisiana–from rape to drug smuggling and homicide to DWIs:

All of these crimes were 100 percent preventable. Louisiana citizens should not have to suffer at the hands of illegal aliens, but the current DC regime’s “open borders” dogma is allowing unfettered mass immigration into our state.

This week, one Republican governor decided to take a courageous stand against the current administration’s treacherous immigration policies. That governor is Greg Abbott of Texas.

Heading into this week’s events, the state of Texas and the federal government had been at odds about the border crisis for a while. In 2021, Texas Governor Greg Abbott launched a program called “Operation Lone Star” to combat illegal immigration into Texas. This effort deployed the Texas National Guard to the Texas-Mexico border in order to limit illegal border crossings.

The situation in recent months has become unbearable in Texas. The town of Eagle Pass is essentially a rest stop for thousands of illegal aliens looking to break into the United States.

The quasi-standoff between Texas and the federal government started especially heating up over the past few weeks. About two weeks ago, the Texas Department of Safety took control of a public park (Shelby Park) in Eagle Pass bordering the Rio Grande River. The state force began setting up razor wire to stop illegal aliens from entering Texas–much to the chagrin of the Biden administration.

Certainly, the Biden administration actively supports the Great Replacement of native-born Americans via open border and mass immigration. It is simply a fact at this point. Just look as the countless illegal aliens who have infiltrated this country over the last three years.

The federal government isn’t fond of Texas attempting to enforce immigration laws. Consequently, the federal government has gone to court against the state of Texas for its efforts to secure the border. On Monday, the US Supreme Court ruled that the federal government was allowed to take down the razor wire set up by the Texas National Guard.

What then happened next shocked me, and most of the country.

Texas did not follow the mandate and the Supreme Court’s terrible ruling. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton have remained defiant over the past three days, and Texas has continued to add razor wire in the Shelby park area. In fact, the Texas National Guard won’t even let Border patrol agents inside the park area.

Then on Wednesday, Governor Abbott released the following statement on social media:

While Greg Abbott has certainly leaned more toward the establishment wing of the GOP, his commitment to preserving the sovereignty of Texas is quite admirable and remarkable. I still have a hard time believing that Abbott hasn’t caved, as most Republicans do, to the tiniest bit of pressure.

As of this writing, the Biden administration set a deadline for Texas to give up control of Shelby park later on January 26 or risk a confrontation with the federal government.

Despite enormous pressure from the feds, Governor Abbott has not budged, and reinforcements may be coming soon.

So far, 25 Republican governors, including Louisiana’s Jeff Landry, have voiced their public support for Governor Abbott and Texas. The Republican Governor’s Association (RGA), President Trump, and many major Republican politicians have also expressed their support for Abbott’s stand.

This whole situation is still developing and could change at a moment’s notice. So we’ll have to wait to see what happens next in this stand-off.

Moving back to Louisiana, remember that talk is cheap in 2024. Louisiana cannot afford to become a sanctuary state for illegal aliens, and we may be forced to became one if Texas is unable to resist the American regime’s “open borders” agenda. Our state needs to see bold action coming from Louisiana’s legislative and executive branches. After the disastrous special session last week, Republicans need to get their act together and pass “Louisiana First” legislation that will promote Louisiana’s sovereignty. Actively fining Louisiana companies hiring illegal aliens, limiting public services only to US citizens and other legal residents/visitors, and cracking down on day-laborers are just a few examples of how Louisiana can reduce the impact of illegal immigration.

But before the Legislative session starts in March, Governor Jeff Landry must take action to help defend the Texas-Mexico border. Governor Landry must send tangible aid–such as National Guard personnel or razor wire–in addition to the verbal support already offered.

In this dire time, the US-southern border is now our border. Louisiana and every state in the Union is now a border state due to mass immigration. Let’s not waste any time in defending the sovereignty and interest of Louisiana citizens before it’s too late.

God Bless Texas for its heroic stand against the invasion at the southern border!  And may God give Louisiana the courage to do the same!
