There was a lot of talk of prophecies, coincidences, and signs concerning the April 8 solar eclipse, and as one should have expected, the event has come and gone without any ‘visible manifestation’ of any of the things a lot of folks were scared about.

I do stress the phrase ‘visible manifestation’ because it still stands to reason that there were unseen rituals performed in conjunction with the event that very well could have opened up doors to nefarious elements of the spiritual world. Indeed, Emeritus Bishop Joseph Strickland of Texas–ousted by Francis late last year because of the orthodoxy of his faith of all things–offered a post-1960s New Order Mass in English to counter any satanic and Masonic activity during the solar eclipse.

It is worth noting–very much so even though it isn’t the scope of this article–that yesterday was also the Feast of the Annunciation/Incarnation in the Traditional Catholic Church, moved from its typical March 25 celebration because of the primacy of Holy Week and the Easter Octave. This is where Catholics and perhaps other Christians celebrate the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit over the Virgin, when Christ was conceived in her womb. Regarding April 8, there are numerous reflections one could make on light and shadows in relation to the sky and to the true Light of the world.

Back to the prophecies, coincidences, and signs. We could get into any number of things, like the Devil’s Comet and things like red heifers, but we’re simply not, not in this article. We believe that while there are undoubtedly esoteric, supernatural realities we may later find out about concerning this day April 8–such as the ritual performed, in Switzerland I believe, right before the onset of the diabolical Covid event–it simply doesn’t serve us right at this moment to provide conjectures. We feel just as strongly about that now as we did in the days leading up to April 8 when no contributor of the site chose to opine on the topic. If you’re looking for a rabbit hole item, maybe see “CERN,” but really and truly, all you have to do is look at modern musicians who hide their occult activity right there in plain sight at their concerts and things like the Grammys. The devil is here, and he’s not really hiding anymore.

Still, the panic surrounding this particular day was palpable, as if it truly was going to be different. States of emergency, school closings, stocking up of supplies–these and so much more have been in the news for weeks, indeed months. Discernment should have told us that this day would come and go without any visible alteration on the world stage, and that discernment should have come because of how natural and scheduled the event would be and was.

We don’t need solar eclipse days and any special occult rituals to know that the devil is on the move in the world. What should happen now that April 8 is come and gone is to see how April 8 can provide us a legitimate, lasting message that goes beyond conspiracies and into the very Word of God. None of what I present below is new, nor should it take a day like April 8 to draw attention to it. But God, in his mercy, through the natural movements of nature and the cosmos, often inspires in us these fresh new attentions and conversations in order to call us back to him.

So in that regard, all the attention on this date can be viewed as a good thing. But it is time now to move from the meaningless to the meaningful.

Perhaps the thing that most interested me in this eclipse event is the term Ninevah, or Ninive in the Douay-Rheims. My personal Lent that has come and gone involved an intense fast from food because I was inspired by Jonas’ story and felt compelled to offer up the sacrifice. Sure, all the numbers and coincidences were cool, but the one that most stuck out to me is one I believe more folks can all agree on–our country is in trouble, and We the People must rise together to do our part to save it–just as Ninive did.

So I went about implementing a most intense prayer and fasting regiment in Lent, asking God to save me, my own, and this country, not to mention to inspire in more Americans the willingness to fast from food as an offering. I will continue to fast in less dramatic ways even now in this feast of an Easter season. I beseech you, my reader friends, to prayerfully consider what lesson we can learn from Ninive and to join me in a nationwide fast, a unified, pleasing offering to Almighty God in union with Christ’s eternal offering on the cross.

I also invite you to read all of the brief Book of Jonas, in particular his reluctance to actually follow through on God’s command, in particular God’s mercy in being patient while Jonas finally decided on his “yes” to God–a mercy I and maybe you continue to need in our own lives. Take special inventory of Jonas’ warning to the people of Ninive and more importantly, their response.

And the word of the Lord came to Jonas the second time, saying: Arise, and go to Ninive the great city: and preach in it the preaching that I bid thee. And Jonas arose, and went to Ninive, according to the word of the Lord: now Ninive was a great city of three days’ journey. And Jonas began to enter into the city one day’s journey: and he cried, and said: Yet forty days, and Ninive shall be destroyed. And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least. And the word came to the king of Ninive; and he rose up out of his throne, and cast away his robe from him, and was clothed with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published in Ninive from the mouth of the king and of his princes, saying: Let neither men nor beasts, oxen nor sheep, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water. And let men and beasts be covered with sackcloth, and cry to the Lord with all their strength, and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the iniquity that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn, and forgive: and will turn away from his fierce anger, and we shall not perish? And God saw their works, that they were turned from their evil way: and God had mercy with regard to the evil which he had said that he would do to them, and he did it not” (Jon 3:1-10).

The fact that the April 8 event found its route through so many towns named after Ninive can and should be one primary “coincidence” or “sign” we can all take stock in. And the reason this is true is because the veracity and worth of it go beyond a single day’s entertainment and click bait hysteria. When the average person wakes up today and is already long past his come-and-gone conversation piece of the day and is depressed because “nothing happened,” faithful American Christians can take the opportunity to come together and see in the story of Ninive our own story, the story of the United States of America, a country in desperate need of citizen soldiers who will indeed choose to suffer just a little bit of discomfort for the freedom to continue to worship God as Sovereign Lord.

We must move on this first, for there is no leader in Washington DC who will speak or humble himself as the King of Ninive did. It is why I have called on Louisiana’s Governor Landry to be a different kind of leader, but ultimately I think we all know that the world of politics will make this next to impossible. It will be up to the people of this country to move on this first, to go to God and beg for his mercy, but we have to do it with more than mere words and an empty raising of hands. We have to make it hurt a little, a lesson on nationwide fasting spanning the shadows from Old Testament times to now, one that should keep in the light a remote little April day thousands of years later.
