KOENIG: A Fantastic Showing for Louisiana at the 2024 RNC

The 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) was a rousing success for the state of Louisiana. Two weeks ago, Louisiana’s 100+ member delegation–including delegates, alternates, and guests–descended on Milwaukee, Wisconsin for this year’s RNC. Our delegation left an indelible mark on the convention and reminded the country about the conservative wins made recently in the Pelican State.

Unlike previous RNCs, this year’s convention took on a historic significance with the assassination attempt on President Trump’s life coming just two days before . The eyes of the nation and the whole world were focused on the RNC during this tumultuous time, and “Louisiana First” patriots are all grateful that Louisiana sent some of its best and brightest leaders to this special event.

During the RNC, Louisiana’s delegation was undoubtedly one of the most prominent at the convention. In fact, several of Louisiana’s major elected officials were in attendance.  Some prominent Louisiana attendees included Governor Jeff Landry, Attorney General Liz Murrill, US Senator John Kennedy, Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta, Treasurer John Fleming, Congresswoman Julia Letlow, and many others.

Additionally, two Louisiana politicians spoke during the RNC’s Night Two session—House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Johnson also sat in the same row with President Trump on the first night of the RNC.

During the convention’s first session, Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta announced and cast Louisiana’s 47 delegate votes for President Donald Trump as the GOP’s presidential nominee. This announcement reminded the nation that Louisiana is firmly behind President Trump and his “America First” policies.

Besides Louisiana’s elected officials, Louisiana’s RNC delegation made it onto national television numerous times. I personally made it on live TV during Donald Trump Jr’s speech on night three and my fiancé could be seen during JD Vance’s acceptance speech on night three.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my RNC experience, and I thank Republicans of LA Congressional District 1 for selecting me as their alternate delegate!

If you want to learn more about my day-by-day experience at the 2024 RNC. Then, make sure to check out my substack here: the Louisiana First Standard. I extensively covered the RNC on my substack blog, so definitely take a look there if you want more RNC coverage from a Louisiana native’s perspective.

Fortunately, I was not the only Louisiana attendee who enjoyed the 2024 RNC. Here are some quotes from other members of the Louisiana delegation about their RNC experience:

-Alternate delegate Debbie Theriot:

“I feel humbled by my election to alternate delegate and wish to thank all of those who voted for me to attend. It was truly an honor to represent the constituents of the great state of Louisiana and hope that I made them proud. This was the opportunity of my lifetime and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Now let’s go make America great again!”

-Alternate delegate Christy Haik:

” One day after our President was saved by, what I believe, could only have been Divine Intervention, we arrived in Milwaukee for the RNC Convention. To describe the experience as “historic” would be an accurate understatement.
It was, more aptly, a moment in time where the culmination of the courage, tenacity and Patriotic Spirit of our Founding Fathers and the spirit of selfless sacrifice of our American Troops was palpable in all there assembled.
Donald J. Trump was the embodiment of both as he survived an assassination attempt yet immediately thereafter showed up for every night of the convention with a smile on his face and a bandage on his ear.
It is this indomitable spirit that makes us truly Americans and makes him the Lion of a Leader that we require at this juncture in time. What a week! What a man!
Donald Trump is alive!”

-Alternate delegate Seth Scott:

“It [the RNC] was fun. By far, the best part was the attendees. We got to meet so many awesome and good hearted people.”

-Alternate delegate Monique Appeaning:

“Monique Appeaning, an Alternate Delegate for CD6 was a first time attendee. She describes the atmosphere as electrifying and full of hope and joy. We all knew we were experiencing a special moment in time during this convention.”
The Louisiana delegation’s unique experience would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication from the LAGOP. So, I want to give a special shoutout to our delegation’s organizers: Nick Strong, Justin Green, Nathan Hodson, LAGOP chairman Derek Babcok, and LAGOP executive director Cory Dennis. They did a fantastic job throughout the week of the RNC!
