Ah, the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans residents love their hometown NFL team, and Saints fans all over Louisiana have a deep fondness for the most successful run in Saints franchise history: The Drew Brees-Sean Payton era. Between 2006 and 2021, quarterback Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton led the Saints franchise to unparalleled heights. The team won a Super Bowl and seven division titles during this fifteen year run.
The Saints built up a high level of goodwill in Louisiana during the Brees-Payton era–despite the Saints supporting a variety of far-left and anti-American causes over the years. In a way, the New Orleans Saints have become a “sacred cow” in New Orleans. The Democratic politicians in New Orleans understand that the Saints distract the masses from the many long-running issues plaguing the city. Give the people their NFL football, and nobody gets hurt.
Well, some disturbing allegations came out yesterday concerning the New Orleans Saints franchise and ex-Saints head coach Sean Payton. Investigative journalist James O’Keefe released the following video on multiple social media platforms:
Wait, you’re telling me that Saints coaches were allegedly stealing and distributing opioids? Not a good look if that claim were to be true.
In the undercover video above, the Washington Commanders’ former VP of content Rael Enteen alleged that Sean Payton and other then-Saints coaches stole painkillers from the team’s doctors. According to Enteen, an NFL equipment manager supposedly told him that Coach Payton and other Saints coaches were caught on video stealing opioids.
Even worse, Enteen also claimed that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell covered up the opioid scandal by promoting the “Bountygate” story to distract the public from the actual scandal: an opioid theft & distribution scandal.
Now, these disturbing claims are still hearsay at this stage in the game, and we haven’t heard from the other parties named in this potential cover-up–namely Roger Goodell and Sean Payton. However, these claims still deserve a fair hearing considering just how casually a former NFL executive made these statements.
As of this article’s publishing, no major sports media outlet has covered the O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) video. The New Orleans Saints, NFL, and Denver Broncos (Payton’s current employer) also have not responded to Okeefe Media Group’s numerous requests for comment. So, we will have to see if the media blackout continues for this bombshell story.
Regardless, this story is already going viral on social media. James O’Keefe’s post on X/Twitter already gained over 600k views in under five hours.
We all already knew that the highest levels of American politics were highly corrupt, but this story shows us that professional sports may be just as crooked too. Only time will tell.
