This morning I did another of my regular segments on the Morning Answer show on AM 560 in Chicago, this time with Amy Jacobson being joined by John Anthony.

And we mostly discussed a topic I’d mentioned in my American Spectator column on Friday – the fact that Kamala Harris was clearly lying when she claimed to have worked at McDonald’s while she was in school.

The story is plausible enough: she was at Howard University in Washington, DC at the time but said she worked at McDonald’s in Alameda, California for a summer. As Harris grew up in Oakland, though she spent five years during her high school days living in a posh neighborhood in Montreal, it’s possible she might have worked at McDonald’s.

Except that didn’t show up on a job application she filled out with the Alameda County District Attorney’s office in 1987, and it didn’t show up in two biographies written about her.

And as I noted, it’s been more than a week since the challenge to this claim surfaced and there has been zero proof offered. Honestly, a franchisee of a McDonald’s location where Harris would have worked would have to have come forward by now to say, “Sure – we had a future presidential candidate work here.”

Either that, or coworkers would have come forth and remembered her.

I sure haven’t seen any of that. Instead, it seems a whole lot like Team Harris has dropped the claim.

Which might seem like a little thing, but it really isn’t. It shows you that this is a candidate who’ll tell any lie she thinks she can get away with. And when that lie gets found out she simply switches to a different lie in an attempt to stay ahead of the game.

The problem with this approach is you can’t sustain it, because sooner rather than later people start noticing that nothing you say is true. And then they just assume the worst about you.

So for example, if you’ll lie about working at McDonald’s, then you’ll lie about promising no tax on tips. Or that you won’t try to ban fracking. Or that you’ll build a southern border wall. They’ll just assume that all of those tacks to the center are BS and the truth is the most radical thing on record where she’s concerned.
