This is probably the lowest point among many. The TV stations and “newspaper” in the Big Easy have completely released their bowels over ICE’s plans to roll through New Orleans and grab a bunch of illegals for deportation – which the American people in poll after poll clearly show are the public’s will.

So what do you get? A bunch of caterwauling about how “the Hispanic community lives in fear” of ICE.

Fox 8 is a perfect example of this stupidity…

Jambalaya News Louisiana is one of the biggest sources of information and content for tens of thousands of Spanish-speaking people living in the Greater New Orleans area.

Brenda Murphy, who emigrated from Honduras in 1996, founded Jambalaya News Louisiana as a newspaper in 2004. She now owns what has become a Metairie-based multimedia company where she works as a reporter and hosts shows and podcasts.

“I basically do everything,” Murphy said.

Murphy says in the community she covers, there’s a real sense of fear about the “Swamp Sweep,” an upcoming federal immigration enforcement action revealed Tuesday.

“Every time I try to talk with someone and ask about the situation, people say, ‘I’m afraid about that. I’m afraid about immigration coming to my house,’” Murphy said.

Murphy says she gets regular calls and text messages from community members who have said they’re keeping kids home from school and avoiding going out to church or work.

“A lot of people — a lot of women in the hotel and tourism industry — have started to say, ‘I’m not showing to the job because of the fear,’” Murphy said.

For supporters of “Swamp Sweep” and similar operations, the idea of fearful undocumented immigrants is welcomed. But Murphy says there are thousands of locals planning to stay out of sight until it’s over.

“This is the plan,” she said. “The plan is, ‘Don’t go anywhere, stay in the house, waiting.’ But it’s a desperate plan, because bills continue. There is food and rent, that all keeps going.”

And then Fox 8 goes out and finds a left-wing open borders shill to push the usual narrative…

Since the beginning of President Trump’s second administration, immigration officials have said they’re going after criminal illegal aliens, emphasizing pursuits of the “worst of the worst.”

Homero Lopez says he is seeing something else.

Lopez is legal director of Immigration Services and Legal Advocacy (ISLA), a pro bono immigration legal service in New Orleans. Lopez says many ISLA clients have no criminal records, or only minor non-violent infractions such as shoplifting or traffic violations.

Lopez says the ICE playbook already used for crackdowns in cities such as Los Angeles likely will play out here in southeast Louisiana.

“We’re seeing where they’re picking people up,” Lopez said. “They’re picking people up at job sites. They’re picking people up at the immigration court when they’re going to their hearings. They’re picking them up at the immigration interviews, when they’re going to follow through on their immigration process. … It’s the people that are going through the immigration process, what I consider the ‘low-hanging fruit.’”

But this is a lie, because some 70 percent of the people ICE has nabbed are either criminals – meaning they’ve committed crimes here beyond just coming illegally – or they’ve got a deportation order from a judge.

But the story is that Hispanics “live in fear” of ICE.

Well, if you’re illegal, then yeah. You probably should live in fear of ICE, because ICE’s job is to get illegal aliens out of the country.

Which is what the American people hired them to do. Because America has borders for a reason.

And we don’t really have the money to spend a half a trillion dollars a year providing public goods and services – like education, incarceration, health care, food, housing and other such things – to people who barged in here.

Not to mention that the New Orleans media won’t stop amplifying the lefties who screech about a lack of affordable housing in the city. Well, gosh, I wonder why you’d have that problem! Could it be the tens of thousands of illegals living in the New Orleans area who compete for the low-end housing and drive up the price of rental property?

And when the illegals are sent home, now there’s more housing available and the prices should come down.

Ditto for grocery prices. Ditto for the long line at the emergency room or the doc-in-the-box urgent care place.

And maybe the schools can get more teaching done with fewer kids who can’t speak English in the classes.

There are lots of other cities which have far more illegals than New Orleans has. The ICE sweeps in Charlotte have been eye-opening, for example. The “Swamp Sweep” won’t be anything like that.

But the way the local media yokels in New Orleans have staged this freakout is utterly asinine. And no, it isn’t just yellow journalism chasing ratings. This is aimed at clawing the Hispanic citizens back into the Democrat fold by making them terrified they’re going to get picked up in an ICE raid.

The question somebody should have asked Brenda Murphy is why she’s building a media company catering to illegal aliens. One presumes her answer is that she isn’t doing that, which is good – but then why is she saying her audience is afraid of the federal agency which removes illegals?

Our suspicion is there’s an answer to that, too, and it’s one Fox 8 probably doesn’t want out there. Namely, that Brenda Murphy wouldn’t get free publicity for her little video blog if she didn’t parrot the “Hispanics are terrified” narrative Fox 8 wanted.

It isn’t like this was hard to figure out, you know.

And it isn’t like Fox 8 and the rest of the local yokels in the New Orleans media are fooling anybody. Everybody knows they’re just as in the tank for the Democrats’ stupid propaganda narratives as the national media yokels are; they just aren’t as artful at it.

Enough already. What ICE is doing is a good and necessary thing and it will save taxpayers money. If removing illegals creates job openings that Americans can fill, then that’ll be an excellent side benefit.

Either way, this is what we voted for and we’ll be damned if we’ll see it villified by these losers.
